Privacy Policy
Artifactr is a static site with no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. This privacy policy exists because you should be able to confirm that rather than take it on trust, and because two things do happen when you load a page here that are worth stating plainly.
- We run no analytics, no advertising network, no tracking pixels and no cookies of our own. There is nothing to opt out of because nothing is being collected.
- Two third parties see something: Google Fonts receives your IP address when a page loads a font, and our host Netlify records standard server logs.
- There are no accounts, no newsletter and no sign-up on this site. We hold no database of readers.
The Artifactr privacy policy is short because the site is simple. There are no accounts, no newsletter, no advertising, no analytics and no cookies set by us. There is no database of readers because we never built one.
That covers most of what a privacy policy is normally for. What follows is the part that actually matters: the two places where something about your visit does leave our pages.
What we collect: nothing
We run no analytics package. We do not know which pages you read, how long you stayed, where you came from or whether you came back. We have no advertising network, no retargeting pixel, no session recorder and no A/B testing tool.
We set no cookies. You will not see a consent banner on this site, and that is not an oversight — there is nothing to consent to.
What third parties see
Google Fonts. Our pages request a typeface from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Any request to a third-party server necessarily reveals your IP address and user agent to that server, so Google receives both when a page here loads. Google's privacy policy governs what it does with that. This is the only third-party asset our pages request, and if we remove it in future this page will say so.
Netlify. The site is hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard web server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent. Every web host keeps some form of this and it is what makes serving a page possible. We do not analyse those logs to build a picture of individual readers, and Netlify's own privacy policy governs their retention.
Links out. We link to platform documentation, terms-of-service pages, court reporting and the products we test. Following one of those links takes you to a site with its own policy and its own tracking, and ours stops at our boundary.
The contact form
If you write to us, the message reaches the editorial team through Netlify's form handling and is stored there. We keep it as long as the correspondence is useful and delete it if you ask. Nothing you send is added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.
Your rights
If you are in the UK, EU or another jurisdiction with statutory data rights, those rights apply here — but the practical answer is unusual: for almost every reader, we hold nothing. The exception is anyone who has written to us, where the message itself is the data. Ask through the contact page and we will delete it and confirm.
Changes
If we ever add analytics, advertising or any other third-party script, this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date at the top will change with it. We would rather say what a site does than describe what a site of this kind usually does.
